"The Realms of the world do not belong to those who walk them.
They belong to those who run them fastest, furthest, hardest.
Lace your boots. Raise your banner. The Crown awaits."

The Seven Chapters
Read in order or roam at will. Each chapter stands on its own.
Chapter I
The Realm
România, cut into forty two counties. Each county tiled with hexagons of 52,6 square kilometres, 7,8 km flat to flat. The map stays under fog until someone moves through it.
Chapter II
The Hexagon
A hexagon is the smallest thing you can own: 52,6 km² of ground, 7,8 km from flat to flat. Every one carries a toll in kilometres. The rim of a county costs 10 km, one runner's day. The heart costs 50 km, which no one takes alone.
Chapter III
The Ladder
Five titles, earned by hexagons held. Landlord at one, Baron at ten, Lord at fifty, King of County at the county crown, Sovereign of Country at the High Seat.
Chapter IV
The Claim
The first kilometre logged inside a hexagon opens its window. The House then has twenty four hours to pay the toll, and at most five runners count toward it. Fall short and the ledger is wiped at midnight.
Chapter V
The Houses
A House carries a surname and up to nine names beneath it. Hexagons held by members count to the House. Counties are won by Houses, not by lone runners.
Chapter VI
The Season
Twelve weeks. Weekly sieges on contested counties, a settlement every seventh day, and a closing week where every hexagon is worth double.
Chapter VII
The Crown
One crown per county, forty two in all. Hold the most hexagons in a county at season end and the crown is yours. Hold the most crowns and you take the High Seat.
